 Text: Great sesh. When we last left off, Jolly and Lucia were exploring Martok's tent. It was heavily booby trapped, and is also the place where we saw a vision of us all dying while at the ziggurat. Lucia got disappeared, and Jolly went back to get to get backup. Darragh and Diablo stood watch outside while Jolly and Dakka went back in and got attacked by the grasping vines of an Oota Root. Jolly and Dakka got entangled and started slashing at it. Diablo came in and helped with some heals, and also stabbed at the root with some arrows like a mean chopstick stabbing thing. Darragh ran around the tent, climbed up on top, slashed the canvas, and then slid down like she was zip lining, or like she was in a swashbuckling pirate movie. She comes flying in and kicks the jar the root is in, knocking it over and exposing the root ball. We start hacking on the roots. Meanwhile, Lucia is trapped in an illusion by the floating brain in the jar. She sees all our dead bodies, and faint shimmers of the real world. She tries casting burning hands at one of the shimmers and catches Dakka's leg on fire. Finally she figures out what's going on, and shatters the brain jar, ending the illusion. When she reappears in the real world, we have the root on the ropes, and she casts incandescent form and smother burns the root. The brain bonds with Diablo, who convinces everybody not to squish it. We keep it in a pickle jar and it is our friend now. Its name is Martin. We drew a couple of different faces on the bucket so Martin can express himself. So after all of that, the documents we're looking for are still inside this large, ornate desk. Martin tells us that the desk is a mimic. We make a plan to sedate the mimic by feeding it all of the drugs in Martok's opium den. Then we'll get the stuff and get out. Easy right?

Caliope spent some time getting emotionally abused by her mother, and then trained for a while with Ky, who revealed that Verdade (the Dreaming entity that chose Cali as their avatar, but with whom they have so far been unable to fuse) was the leader of the Dream Rebellion, and was maimed in battle. Cali considered the fact that they are both crippled, and considered her own inner Hero.

 Text: Lyrmwithmas Holiday Special surprise: K and Chuck swapped places, with C behind the screen for the first time ever and K at the players table! Super fun, C did a good job. We all got transported to an illusion puzzle of Lucia's childhood castle home. Everything was layers of mirrors and reflections. We got to hang out with Blane / Gavin (K's character) and everybody got a shiny platter. We eventually found the key to the tower and got back home but not before a final trick / temptation of the castle: it showed us the lush verdant forests of Guthie, Darragh's home. She chose to go through the portal and we thought we were going to say goodbye to her forever, but at the last second she realized it was another illusion, and Blane roped her out of there and we portaled back home at the last second. Lyrmwithmas was a huge celebration as always. Dragon noodles, cake, brownies, decorations, eggs, candy, gifts, costumes. Already can't wait for next year. Hail Lyrmwith!

 Text: Following up our last session, we dive straight into the Mission phase and battle a weird airplane creature that when it stands up is a four stories tall kaiju. Everybody starts doing their thing: Concordia starts singing to soothe it, Lykos starts punching furiously, Calliope starts trying to lead the creature away from the citizens with coffee shop pastries, and Cronos does science and time manipulation to find weaknesses and protect people. My most favorite thing that Cronos has managed to pull off to date: creating a great time travel paradox, Janus appears in the cockpit of the creature and starts wrestling with the pilot even while Cronos is battling the creature with the rest of the gang. The creature is eventually subdued and de-morphs to reveal a passed out woman in military fatigues. We take her to the abandoned trailer in the back of the Arbys parking lot. She turns out to be Captain Alice Ramos. Several pilots have gone missing over the bay, coinciding with the appearance of more 'creatures'. Somehow Storm Industries is involved. (Founded in the 1980s by Santa Marta alumni Albert Storm.) In the meantime we find out that during the battle, there was some kind of explosion at the old physics building, the site of the re-emergence of Our Lady of the Atom. Good sesh! Felt like the Mystery is starting to pull us deeper into its embrace.

 Text: Fun sesh! We snooped around Baughman's cabin and found some clues and stuff that lead us to zombie Marlene trapped in a buried tank in the backyard. Possum wanted to free her and help her. Parkour wanted to torch her right away, with Parliament joining his side. Persimmon was neutral until he found out that she is undead. Possum lied to the group and told them that the handler gave them extra time. Possum and Persimmon went to go study some files, and Parkour is probably going to torch Marlene.

Callie and Janus head over to the abandoned science building, and Cary and Nif head down to the beach to check out the anomaly.At the shore, a giant sea monster showed up along with Black Tail. Concordia single handedly attacked and soothed the monster in equal measures. Meanwhile Lykos talked with Black Tail the "new Lykos." Back at the abandoned science building, Max aka The Architect is pretty much handing Janus and Callie's butts to them. Callie stepped in and saved Janus from taking extreme harm. At that moment, Janus traveled back in time to give Callie the pendant that Verdade gave Cronus in the future. This allows Callie in the present moment to finally transcend and become Verdade. When Janus returns, Verdade grabs her and flies them both out of there and goes to meet up with Nif and Cary at the beach. They arrive in time to see Jordan Flowers, student linguist who has a pet crocopug, help Concordia turn the monster docile. Jordan tells the gang she knows where there are portals to the Dreaming; she has been working alone up till now trying to keep them closed so no monsters come through.

The ships set sail and discover Black Mountain, a legendary floating island that crawls slowly across the silt sea. They are able to dock in the pirates cove, and make their way up to the prisoners floor.

Dr. Day has spent the intervening years obsessed to various degrees with the experiment that took Agatha from her.

For the combination safety training / teambuilding exercise, they have to row across a lake while being shot at with beanbag cannons. They hurt if they hit you! Lucia clouds Mad Moira's mind and makes her take a shining to Jolly because she looks like her lost daughter. As a result, Jolly is able to pick pocket a compass from her, and also Moira gets the cannoneers to shoot wide of Jolly. Neither Jolly nor Lucia can row worth a shit and eventually give up. Dakka and Darragh each grab two oars and bring them home. (Diablo captains.) Now it's time for the gang to operate the cannons while the next cohort of new recruits get in the boats.

(Psionics always shave their head in order to cut down on the resistance as their thoughts leave their head.) Darragh is double wielding cannons, running from one to the other. Lucia is wreaking havoc on the recruits with discreet fire spells, giving them a hot foot, melting the bard's lute strings, etc. Jolly goes shadow form, spider crawls down the wall, and sprints across the sea to sabotage a boat, but manages to do nothing but get into a tug of war with an oarsman, trying to steal their oar. Bard and Dakka have a bard-off until Doc casts shatter between the boats and destroys them. The bard sinks and drowns.

They share all the info they have on the schematics and layout of the mountain, and suggest they we scout out the storerooms on level 1 for anything that might help us.

(Meta: this is the moment, after over a year and a half of playing this game, that J. realizes she is playing a cleric and has Turn Undead.) After this awesome display of holy power, Diablo does a little jig, takes a deep breath of poison miasma, and promptly goes unconscious again.

Cary gives Janus some really old to take care for when Cary dies. Janus must keep them so that the Shadow Man doesn't come for them prematurely. Janus almost spaces on the bridge tournament, and ends up playing shitty and she and Esther are eliminated first round. At Tarot Club Janus meets Pria who Janus thinks might be herself from another timeline, which freaks her out! Cary takes psychic damage from it. Cary feeling super bad, ends up at an arcade with veteran support group Gutierrez, Ace, and Bucket where she feels a little more humanized. Callie and Cam have a flirty but very awkward photo shoot. Kai gathers the gang at south campus where Captain Alice Ramos has fused with a dream entity, has sprouted huge white feathered wings, is dreaming, and is unresponsive. Massive dream energy spike south of Ramos's base. Janus hacks Alice's "Computer Stick" and discovers that Storm has revived Project Oneiros and has a new device nearly built save for a certain "asset" component.

The ✨✨Glistening Core✨✨ is a huge power source slash databank slash weapon? in the mountains. Nif goes on a huge spending spree and gives Splendiferous a truck so he can deliver it all. Nif makes a pitstop at home for their honeymoon.

+Text: Enter: the Storm all crystal up. Abernathy is a giant six-armed white ape. Cary chomps Storm into bits and then untranscends. Concordia almost eclipses, Cronos almost unravels the entire timestream to stop it, but then Concordia powerfully resists it, and untranscends, and it is awesome. Corvus joins the team officially? Ramos’s transcended form is named Pylyt. Cronos yeets Blacktail back into the rift. Everybody tries to carebear stare the rift closed. Cary protects Janus when she’s in danger. Verdade rescues Vogel from the rift and seals it shut and evyrbody cries. Agatha wakes up and everybody cheers. Cary has a pout.

+Text: Dusted off my dm hat and ran some troika for the friday night crew! I think everybody had fun. I did! We played Findlay's Lamp Emporium from dungeoncontest.com 2k24. I didn't run combat hard enough. They smoked the imps. And also avoided a ton of combat through cleverness and etiquette. But i think that was okay. We had Po the Rhino-Man, Miss Smith-Smith the wizard of the academy of doors, a thaumaturge, Basil the Yongardy Lawyer, and Lil Dicky Charles a fellow of the sublime society of beef steaks. Miss Smith-Smith got so into it she made a little paper door that she tied to her forhead with some twine. And she also fashioned a paper horn for the Rhino-Man to wear. The Yongardy Lawyer went to the garage and got a hammer as a prop stand-in for his warhammer. The thaumaturge cast Assume Shape and became a broken lamp; the gang insisted Belvedere honor the contract of sale and repair it. Miss Smith-Smith Assumed the Shape of a delivery of toilet paper and was carried directly up the top floor of the shop, Belvedere's infernal inner sanctum. Rhino-Man spent the entire game insisting that she *walked* and did not *charge* anywhere. Only to finally charge the BBEG and gore him with her horn. Defeated in physical combat, Belvedere challenged the crew to a fiendish game of ROLL AND DRAW SPIDERS, which the thaumaturge narrowly won for the team, contractually banishing B. back to hell. Used the Wizards Tarot as the initiative stack which was fun. Lil Dicky never drew a card, not even once! Such is troika sometimes.

+So the gang gets back together and has dinner at Moonflower's (aka Dr. Tabitha Day), where Tabitha tells the story of Our Lady of the Atom: herself (Tabitha Day), Albert Storm, and Agatha Vogel. And how they successfully breached the border between our world and the Dreaming, but at great cost: Storm experienced our world's first transcendence, merging briefly with a dream entity; Vogel's consciousness became trapped between the two worlds leaving her as "the conduit" and also in a coma for 30 years. Dr. Day has spent the intervening years obsessed to various degrees with the experiment that took Agatha from her.

For the combination safety training / teambuilding exercise, they have to row across a lake while being shot at with beanbag cannons. They hurt if they hit you! Lucia clouds Mad Moira's mind and makes her take a shining to Jolly because she looks like her lost daughter. As a result, Jolly is able to pick pocket a compass from her, and also Moira gets the cannoneers to shoot wide of Jolly. Neither Jolly nor Lucia can row worth a shit and eventually give up. Dakka and Darragh each grab two oars and bring them home. (Diablo captains.) Now it's time for the gang to operate the cannons while the next cohort of new recruits get in the boats.

+      It's the gang's turn to man the cannons and shoot at the next wave of recruits. They have a luted bard and a shaved psionic. (Psionics always shave their head in order to cut down on the resistance as their thoughts leave their head.) Darragh is double wielding cannons, running from one to the other. Lucia is wreaking havoc on the recruits with discreet fire spells, giving them a hot foot, melting the bard's lute strings, etc. Jolly goes shadow form, spider crawls down the wall, and sprints across the sea to sabotage a boat, but manages to do nothing but get into a tug of war with an oarsman, trying to steal their oar. Bard and Dakka have a bard-off until Doc casts shatter between the boats and destroys them. The bard sinks and drowns.

+      Intern Tim escorts the mostly drunk gang to their quarters. Jolly grabs Diablo and they sneak out to go meet Clara and Kaylick, members of the Gulg cell. Together they devise a plan: The Gulg team will free all the prisoners while the Thanalas team commandeers Black Mountain. They share all the info they have on the schematics and layout of the mountain, and suggest they we scout out the storerooms on level 1 for anything that might help us.

+The next morning the gang is hungover in the cafeteria. Diablo helps the slopman invent breakfast burritos. This is gonna be huge for the slopman's career. Tim seems like a real tool, and we exploit his insecurities to get into the storeroom where we start pocketing stuff. Darragh and Lucia use the Lantern of Illusion and the Scroll of Endless Complaint to set up a smokescreen as we try to leave, but one of the wraith custodians notices us and demands a requisition form as two enormous sand golem guards move to block our exit.

+      Battle commences! Darragh slap shots all of the jars and bottles on a nearby tabletop at the sand golem, says "Oops!" and the golem takes some water damage. Dakka creates a whirly swirly hypnotic pattern outside the storeroom putting the 2 desk guards into a mindless trance and yells to Tim, "Get us some requisition forms for the love of god!"

+Taking a page from Darragh's book, Diablo says Oops, and pushes an entire shelf over into one of the golems. This releases an expanding, low hanging fog of poisonous miasma. (Diable and Lucia immediately start retching and vomiting everywhere.) It also releases a large feline water elemental that immediately starts laying waste to the sand golem around which it takes form.

+Tim rushes in the required paperwork. The wraith by the front door shrieks and Tim's face is melted clean off. He's so dead. Paperwork goes everywhere. Diablo vomits all over it. Lucia vomits into a jar and discovers that it is in fact a magic receptacle. She circles around and corners the elemental with a wall of flames and pss-pss-pss it into the jar and closes the lid.

+Jolly finds a sweet enchanted grappling hook and hookshots her way up onto the top of the remaining golem Shadow of the Colossus style and stabs deeply down into its sand skull. One wraith is still befuddled by the illusion of Endless Complaint, but the one that just face-off'd Tim steps up to Diablo and slashes at him twice with its ghostly cutlass and Diablo goes down. Dakka rushes over and administers a healing potion. Diablo leaps to his feet and retrieves the six foot long didgeridoo that he has apparently been carrying on his back this whole time and blows into it. The room reverberates with the deep droning bass, and one of the wraiths instantly fully disapparates. (Meta: this is the moment, after over a year and a half of playing this game, that J. realizes she is playing a cleric and has Turn Undead.) After this awesome display of holy power, Diablo does a little jig, takes a deep breath of poison miasma, and promptly goes unconscious again.

+Dakka finally manages to complete a requisition form by forging the signature of Scarlett Vein, VP of Plundering, and hands it over to the wraith, and all aggression leaves the room. Okay thanks, looks like everything is in order. You're free to go, and hey. You have a great day, okay?

+Oh okay. Erm, sorry about the mess? Dakka gestures vaguely toward the sopping, smoldering, poisoned, toppled, and scattered bookshelves and items strewn about the storeroom floor.

Cary gives Janus some really old to take care for when Cary dies. Janus must keep them so that the Shadow Man doesn't come for them prematurely. Janus almost spaces on the bridge tournament, and ends up playing shitty and she and Esther are eliminated first round. At Tarot Club Janus meets Pria who Janus thinks might be herself from another timeline, which freaks her out! Cary takes psychic damage from it. Cary feeling super bad, ends up at an arcade with veteran support group Gutierrez, Ace, and Bucket where she feels a little more humanized. Callie and Cam have a flirty but very awkward photo shoot. Kai gathers the gang at south campus where Captain Alice Ramos has fused with a dream entity, has sprouted huge white feathered wings, is dreaming, and is unresponsive. Massive dream energy spike south of Ramos's base. Janus hacks Alice's "Computer Stick" and discovers that Storm has revived Project Oneiros and has a new device nearly built save for a certain "asset" component.

Ramos’s transcended form is named Pylyt. Cronos yeets Blacktail back into the rift. Everybody tries to carebear stare the rift closed. Cary protects Janus when she’s in danger. Verdade rescues Vogel from the rift and seals it shut and evyrbody cries. Agatha wakes up and everybody cheers. Cary has a pout.

+      Dusted off my dm hat and ran some troika for the friday night crew! I think everybody had fun. I did! We played Findlay's Lamp Emporium from dungeoncontest.com 2k24. I didn't run combat hard enough. They smoked the imps. And also avoided a ton of combat through cleverness and etiquette. But i think that was okay. We had Po the Rhino-Man, Miss Smith-Smith the wizard of the academy of doors, a thaumaturge, Basil the Yongardy Lawyer, and Lil Dicky Charles a fellow of the sublime society of beef steaks. Miss Smith-Smith got so into it she made a little paper door that she tied to her forhead with some twine. And she also fashioned a paper horn for the Rhino-Man to wear. The Yongardy Lawyer went to the garage and got a hammer as a prop stand-in for his warhammer. The thaumaturge cast Assume Shape and became a broken lamp; the gang insisted Belvedere honor the contract of sale and repair it. Miss Smith-Smith Assumed the Shape of a delivery of toilet paper and was carried directly up the top floor of the shop, Belvedere's infernal inner sanctum. Rhino-Man spent the entire game insisting that she *walked* and did not *charge* anywhere. Only to finally charge the BBEG and gore him with her horn. Defeated in physical combat, Belvedere challenged the crew to a fiendish game of ROLL AND DRAW SPIDERS, which the thaumaturge narrowly won for the team, contractually banishing B. back to hell. Used the Wizards Tarot as the initiative stack which was fun. Lil Dicky never drew a card, not even once! Such is troika sometimes.

For the combination safety training / teambuilding exercise, they have to row across a lake while being shot at with beanbag cannons. They hurt if they hit you! Lucia clouds Mad Moira&rsquo;s mind and makes her take a shining to Jolly because she looks like her lost daughter. As a result, Jolly is able to pick pocket a compass from her, and also Moira gets the cannoneers to shoot wide of Jolly. Neither Jolly nor Lucia can row worth a shit and eventually give up. Dakka and Darragh each grab two oars and bring them home. (Diablo captains.) Now it&rsquo;s time for the gang to operate the cannons while the next cohort of new recruits get in the boats.</p>

(Psionics always shave their head in order to cut down on the resistance as their thoughts leave their head.) Darragh is double wielding cannons, running from one to the other. Lucia is wreaking havoc on the recruits with discreet fire spells, giving them a hot foot, melting the bard&rsquo;s lute strings, etc. Jolly goes shadow form, spider crawls down the wall, and sprints across the sea to sabotage a boat, but manages to do nothing but get into a tug of war with an oarsman, trying to steal their oar. Bard and Dakka have a bard-off until Doc casts shatter between the boats and destroys them. The bard sinks and drowns.</p>

They share all the info they have on the schematics and layout of the mountain, and suggest they we scout out the storerooms on level 1 for anything that might help us.</p>

I didn&rsquo;t run combat hard enough. They smoked the imps. And also avoided a ton of combat through cleverness and etiquette. But i think that was okay. We had Po the Rhino-Man, Miss Smith-Smith the wizard of the academy of doors, a thaumaturge, Basil the Yongardy Lawyer, and Lil Dicky Charles a fellow of the sublime society of beef steaks. Miss Smith-Smith got so into it she made a little paper door that she tied to her forhead with some twine. And she also fashioned a paper horn for the Rhino-Man to wear. The Yongardy Lawyer went to the garage and got a hammer as a prop stand-in for his warhammer. The thaumaturge cast Assume Shape and became a broken lamp; the gang insisted Belvedere honor the contract of sale and repair it. Miss Smith-Smith Assumed the Shape of a delivery of toilet paper and was carried directly up the top floor of the shop, Belvedere&rsquo;s infernal inner sanctum. Rhino-Man spent the entire game insisting that she <em>walked</em> and did not <em>charge</em> anywhere. Only to finally charge the BBEG and gore him with her horn. +<p>Battle commences! Darragh slap shots all of the jars and bottles on a nearby tabletop at the sand golem, says &ldquo;Oops!&rdquo; and the golem takes some water damage. Dakka creates a whirly swirly hypnotic pattern outside the storeroom putting the 2 desk guards into a mindless trance and yells to Tim, &ldquo;Get us some requisition forms for the love of god!&rdquo;</p>

+<p>Taking a page from Darragh&rsquo;s book, Diablo says Oops, and pushes an entire shelf over into one of the golems. This releases an expanding, low hanging fog of poisonous miasma. (Diable and Lucia immediately start retching and vomiting everywhere.) It also releases a large feline water elemental that immediately starts laying waste to the sand golem around which it takes form.</p>

Dakka rushes over and administers a healing potion. Diablo leaps to his feet and retrieves the six foot long didgeridoo that he has apparently been carrying on his back this whole time and blows into it. The room reverberates with the deep droning bass, and one of the wraiths instantly fully disapparates. (Meta: this is the moment, after over a year and a half of playing this game, that J. realizes she is playing a cleric and has Turn Undead.) After this awesome display of holy power, Diablo does a little jig, takes a deep breath of poison miasma, and promptly goes unconscious again.</p>

They share all the info they have on the schematics and layout of the mountain, and suggest they we scout out the storerooms on level 1 for anything that might help us.</p>

Lucia is wreaking havoc on the recruits with discreet fire spells, giving them a hot foot, melting the bard&rsquo;s lute strings, etc. Jolly goes shadow form, spider crawls down the wall, and sprints across the sea to sabotage a boat, but manages to do nothing but get into a tug of war with an oarsman, trying to steal their oar. Bard and Dakka have a bard-off until Doc casts shatter between the boats and destroys them. The bard sinks and drowns.</p>

Lucia clouds Mad Moira&rsquo;s mind and makes her take a shining to Jolly because she looks like her lost daughter. As a result, Jolly is able to pick pocket a compass from her, and also Moira gets the cannoneers to shoot wide of Jolly. Neither Jolly nor Lucia can row worth a shit and eventually give up. Dakka and Darragh each grab two oars and bring them home. (Diablo captains.) Now it&rsquo;s time for the gang to operate the cannons while the next cohort of new recruits get in the boats.</p>

 <p>Lyrmwithmas Holiday Special surprise: K and Chuck swapped places, with C behind the screen for the first time ever and K at the players table! Super fun, C did a good job. We all got transported to an illusion puzzle of Lucia&rsquo;s childhood castle home. Everything was layers of mirrors and reflections. We got to hang out with Blane / Gavin (K&rsquo;s character) and everybody got a shiny platter. We eventually found the key to the tower and got back home but not before a final trick / temptation of the castle: it showed us the lush verdant forests of Guthie, Darragh&rsquo;s home. She chose to go through the portal and we thought we were going to say goodbye to her forever, but at the last second she realized it was another illusion, and Blane roped her out of there and we portaled back home at the last second. Lyrmwithmas was a huge celebration as always. Dragon noodles, cake, brownies, decorations, eggs, candy, gifts, costumes. Already can&rsquo;t wait for next year. Hail Lyrmwith!</p>

When she reappears in the real world, we have the root on the ropes, and she casts incandescent form and smother burns the root. The brain bonds with Diablo, who convinces everybody not to squish it. We keep it in a pickle jar and it is our friend now. Its name is Martin. We drew a couple of different faces on the bucket so Martin can express himself. So after all of that, the documents we&rsquo;re looking for are still inside this large, ornate desk. Martin tells us that the desk is a mimic. We make a plan to sedate the mimic by feeding it all of the drugs in Martok&rsquo;s opium den. Then we&rsquo;ll get the stuff and get out. Easy right?</p>
